Prime Minister doubles funding for research into dementia

Prime Minister David Cameron is to double the funding for research into dementia to £66m by 2015.

It’s estimated that dementia affects about 800,000 people in the UK.

Woman receives £76,000 compensation for work related stress

A woman has received more than £76,000 compensation after she suffered psychiatric injuries due to stress at work.

The woman started working as an administrator for her employer in 2002. Within four years her role had increased and she had a number of responsibilities that were vital to the day to day running of the business.

Developer made to repay deposits after Commercial Property contract breach

Bankruptcy and Divorce

Individual insolvencies are on the increase, probably caused by the recession.  In divorce proceedings, when finances are discussed, sometimes one party will raise the issue of possible bankruptcy due to a high level of personal debt.  Family lawyers need to be alive to the fact that the threat of bankruptcy is merely a negotiating tactic in the hope of achieving a more acceptable settlement.  However, it is now more likely that the threat is real and in those circumstances it will have a severe impact on the resolution of a couples’ financial issues.
